Sam helps Ferrari clinch WEC title

Sam and his team-mates helped Ferrari write another chapter in its story of success by sealing the FIA World Endurance Championship constructors' title in Shanghai.

Ferrari: Champions again

This is Ferrari’s fifth WEC constructors' title since 2012, and the 24th overall among the manufacturers' championships sanctioned by the FIA.

While neither of the AF Corse GTE 488s were in contention to win the Six Hours of Shanghai, the points brought home by Sam and Davide Rigon in the #71 car and Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado in the #51 were enough to ensure the celebrations were in the Ferrari garage.

Sunday’s trophy goes in the cabinet in a collection that includes:

  • Seven from the "World Manufacturers' for Makes" won between 1953 and 1961
  • Three editions of the International GT Championship (1962, 1963, 1964)
  • Four Prototypes titles between 1963 and 1972
  • Three FIA GT Manufacturers’ championships (2006, 2007 and 2010)
  • Two editions of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (2010 and 2011)
  • Five WEC constructors' titles (2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017)
